How to get started and launch my FarOut campaign in less than 2 minutes?

You are here:

FarOut app has been designed to be as simple and quick as possible for review collection and referrals on social media.

Everything at FarOut starts with launching a campaign. If you want to collect reviews or run referrals on customers’ social media, you first need to create and launch a campaign. In this article, I will show step-by-step on how to set up your campaign settings and go live with FarOut in less than 2 minutes.

Set-up your campaign details

After installing the app for the first time, the “Campaign setup wizard” automatically pops up. Otherwise, you can have access to “Campaign setup wizard” from Campaigns page on the FarOut left menu, and click the green button Create a new campaign on the top-right corner.

“Campaign setup wizard” has four simple steps as described below. For the sake of easiness, most of the fields have been already filled out by default values.

Step 1: Campaign Type

In this step, you should first choose a name for your campaign. The name should be unique and was not used for any other campaign.

Next, you should choose the type of campaign. You actually need to decide whether you want to only collect reviews or run referrals on customers’ social media or both at the same time. I briefly describe how each type of campaign works.

Hybrid Campaign

The Hybrid campaign is the combination of both review collection and referrals. After a customer placed an order, a review request email is sent out after a specific number of days, defined by you in the next steps. The collected reviews are then displayed in your store based on settings you defined in next steps.

Once the customer submits their review, they are also encouraged to share a custom post or story on their choice of social media. The customer also needs to mention a discount code, auto generated by FarOut, and the store’s social media page (if available) in their post or story. In addition, you can encourage your customers to share on social media through FarOut pre-purchase and post-purchase referral widgets.

Reviews Campaign

Through the Reviews campaign, you can only collect the reviews by sending out custom emails and, if you want, offering a discount. The collected reviews are then displayed in your store based on settings you will define in the next steps.

Referrals Campaign

Through the Referrals campaign, you can let your customers share a custom post or story on their choice of social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), in exchange for a reward. The customer also needs to mention a discount code, auto generated by FarOut but inactive at the moment, and the store’s social media page (if available) in their post or story.

Step 2: Reward

In this step, you should determine details of the discount that you would like offering to your customers. For the Hybrid campaign, you should set up the details of the discount code for both writing reviews and sharing a post on social media. But, for the Reviews or Referrals ca campaign, you should set up the details of only on discount code

For Reviews, you have the option by not giving a reward for writing reviews. For doing so, select No for the first question: “Are you willing to offer a discount to customers who submit a (photo) review?”

To set up a discount code, you should select the type of discount among these options: Percentage, Fixed Amount, or Free shipping. Next, you should decide on the Value of discount, which can be a percentage value or a fixed amount of dollars. You can also decide on more details of discount by clicking on Details.

Please note that the discount details are the same as original Shopify discount parameters and the created discount code works the same as the original Shopify discount code. Learn more about Shopify discount code here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/discounts/create-discount-codes

Finally, please remember that the discount value of Referrals should always be higher than Reviews for the Hybrid campaign. The reason is that the customers need to take more actions and spend more time for sharing a post on their social media. To incentivize the customer to do so, we should always give them a higher reward.

Step 3: Settings

In this step, you choose settings about your (1) reviews, (2) referrals, and (3) emails. These settings are as follows:

1 Reviews

1.1 Reviews widget (only for Hybrid or Reviews campaigns)

You can choose the reviews widget that is compatible with your theme. You select either Light which is best for stores with a light theme; or Dark which is best for stores with a dark theme.

2.1 Referral widget

In addition to emails, you can let your customers share a post by displaying the FarOut referral widget across your website pages. There are two types of referral widgets:

a. Pre-Purchase: Sticky bar located at the top of your store pages. The photo below is an example of sticky bar located on the top of the home page. A customer can click on this widget to share a post without placing an order.

b. Post-purchase: Embedded widget on the “Thank You” page, after successfully placing an order. The photo below is an example of the post-purchase widget that is shown to customers only after they place an order and on “Thank You” page.

2.2 Default photo

You should choose a default photo for your customers to share on their social media. FarOut will provide this default photo to customers in case they don’t not have a photo about your store and products or they are too lazy to take a photo. However, they still have an option (and actually encouraged) to choose their own photo.

Click on Add a photo to upload a photo from your library.

You are encouraged to choose the hashtags (maximum of two) that you would like to be mentioned in your customer’s social-media posts. FarOut includes these hashtags in your customers’ social-media posts, which increases your brand engagement.

The request email is the first email that will be sent out to customers after a specific number of days you defined in Sending time. You can customize the email subject line and body. FarOut allows three variables that you can use in drafting your email:

{{Order number}} -> The order number associated with the customer’s latest purchase.

{{customer first name}} -> The customer’s first name, if available. If not, FarOut uses an empty string “”.

{{discount details}} -> It is the summary discount you defined in the step2. Examples are 20% off on all products or $10 off on all products.

3.3 Reminder Email

Step 4: Launch your campaign

In this step, you can see the summary of your campaign.

Now you have two options:

Launch the new campaign NOW: If you want to launch the new campaign and make it live, click on the Launch button. By doing so, if there is any active campaign, it will be immediately paused. Note that they just get paused, not deleted. You can resume them anytime you want from the Campaign page.

Launch the new campaign LATER: If you want to launch the new campaign at a later time, you should check the box next to: “I don’t want to launch the campaign at the moment”. By doing so, your campaign is created but it is inactive.
